Britax Smile Pram Review

The second review I wanted to do is for my pram/travel system. It is a Britax Smile 3 in 1 Pram in black/grey and comes with the frame, car seat (can be used within the pram for newborns), carry cot and toddler forward facing seat. I CANNOT rave enough about this!

The pram itself is smart, sleek and easy to fold, even for me who struggles with the most mundane of tasks. The whole system fits in either car boot comfortably (we have a Citroen C2 and Kia Picanto) without having to remove the wheels which makes assembly that much easier!

The car seat is super practical, big enough for when Leo is a little older for travelling out and about but small enough that it fits easily in the back seat of my car. The only downsides to his car seat are that we had to buy a separate ISO-fix base that didn't come with the set-these retail at about £100 so aren't cheap but very worth it! I should note, however that the seat can be used with just a seat belt to fasten in place if you don't chose to go down the ISO-fix route! The other downside was the weight of this baby! Having had a traumatic post-natal recovery I have had to be very careful lifting heavy objects and this certainly is that, no gym needed for new mummies carrying this around. My husband thankfully does most of the carrying for me and it's not so bad that I couldn't manage alone but it's worth noting that there are other brands who do a lighter weight travel system. The reassuring factor to the car seat's hefty weight is that it is cushioned, padded and super duper safe for baby which is the important part.
The photo below is of Leo in his first 'pram outing' at 3 days old to TESCO where he is somewhat of a celebrity as I collapsed there at 36 weeks pregnant and thought I might give birth next to their F&F range!
The carrycot feature has been such a blessing for us! It is spacious, padded and Leo loves to sleep in it so much that many nights we bring it into the house and use it as his bed. Each of the three seating options click easily into the frame (no buttons, gadgets or gizmos needed here!) and the carrycot is much lighter and easier to carry. We have got so much use out of this feature after being in and out of hospital and little one not having a bed of his own! It also comes with a zip that reveals a mesh rather than the sun cover for those really warm days, which has come in handy as he is a summer baby and an umbrella can be purchased separately to fit into place (£15 on amazon).
The toddler, forward facing seat is still sat neatly in his box as Leo has only just turned nine weeks old and won't be needing it for some time (although he does weigh 14lbs now) but once again this clips into place in one motion, is breathable for baby and collapsible for mummy. I will be looking forward to cracking this one out when the time comes!

Overall style and design: 9/10
Carry Cot feature: 9/10
Car seat feature: 7/10 (weighty but great for the car which is it's main purpose!)
Ease to collapse and erect: 8/10
Frame: 7/10
Ease to push out and about: 7/10
Storage under pram: 9/10
Total: 56/70

It is worth noting that this pram can be found on many different websites including the brands own but retail anywhere between £320 and £450, whereas we waited for the sale and bought it through ARGOS for just £199, an absolute bargain and worth every penny spent!!
