July Favourites!
July has been a funny month for me! It has been both a month of countless hospital appointments and overnight stays but also Leo's first smile, his first big trip out and our wedding anniversary, so highs and lows all around. If nothing else in my short time of being a mummy, I have learnt that the good completely out ways the bad. For this post I thought I'd list the 7 things that I've really been loving for the 7th month of the year!
My Favourites
1. Born in ChelseaI have been absolutely loving this 'Made in Chelsea' spin off and think it's a great watch for mums out there. I have always loved the original series but these episodes follows two characters, Binky and JP in real life as they experience pregnancy (in all it's glory-or not!) and the arrival of their daughter India. I have been watching this on Channel 4 Catch up on those quiet nights when nothing much is on but Leo is far too awake to let me nap, but it has been shown on Sunday nights 9pm on E4. I love that there is no sugar coating to be had here, although the accents may be posh their lifestyle certainly isn't and it portrays a completely honest aspect of pregnancy and life with a newborn, which as a new mummy is really quite refreshing!
2. Primark Candles-Wild Orchid&Honey
Candles to me are a must have every month. They instantly put me at ease, make my house (that with a baby can occasionally smell of milk and nappies) transform into a spa and generally make me happy! During my pregnancy with Leo candles became very hit and miss, which to me was so strange as I have always loved them. I suddenly hated anything 'food' smelling but have always loved floral candles and this trend has continued into motherhood. My favourite for July was surprisingly from Primark and it was their No.9 Wild orchid & honey. It is sweet, fresh and the packaging looks far more expensive than the £2.00 that it actually cost.
3. Garnier Moisture Bomb Protecting Hydrating Mist
This is a cooling spray that was my absolute secret weapon during labour with my son!! It is a pocket size spray that immediately cools your skin and leaves you smelling incredible. I loved it that much during my time in hospital that I went out and bought two more cans during July. These have been invaluable during the warm weather we've been having recently and I would recommend them to anyone.
4. Prawn&Cocktail flavoured SKIPS
This I can't even explain, if I didn't know better I would say it's a craving (100% is not!) but since seeing them on offer in my local supermarket I have been hooked. Skips remind me of primary school and dinner round your mates house and July has rekindled a long, lost love affair for me!
5. Jack Wills body butter & wash
I found this in a gift set when I was going through some storage (to make room for Leo's many things!) and since opening it, have used it everyday. I'm not one to buy branded items. I am the first person to happily admit to using own brand, budget body wash and butter simply because I could never tell the difference. However these products have just made me feel amazing after every bath! I've been using the butter after each soak and it has instantly hydrated all of my dry patches which is a god send as pregnancy left me with skin drier than the Sahara!
6. Maybelline Collosal Volume mascara
I thought it was a myth that you wouldn't have time for a full face of make up when you have a newborn. I have always felt naked without some form of make up and even just popping to the shops feel like I need 'something'. Maybelline's collosal volume mascara has been that 'something' for me! I can get away with just putting one coat on and getting out the door (pulling my pram and bags along with me) and looking like I've made an effort for the day. The formula is thick and super dark but doesn't clump your lashes and I've been loving it!
7. Mum&Baby Magazine
Maybe a bit of an obvious one but I've been loving 'Mum and Baby' magazine ever since I found out I was pregnant! It's full of tips, tricks and tons of products that I've purchased after reading about them in this magazine. Sometimes it can seem like you are getting advice and information thrown at you from every angle as a new mum but for me I love as much as I can get!
