August Favourites

How the hell is it September already?! I feel like August is the month that's gone the quickest so far and suddenly I am sat here wondering how Leo is over three months old. I am finally starting to feel more myself and enjoying being a mummy more than I ever thought I would so August for me, has been a fab month! It has been the month of my husband's birthday, Leo's first playdate and lots of lovely family days and weekends.
As I did the same with July, this time for my monthly favourites I will be listing my 8 favourite things for the 8th month of the year!

My Favourites

1. The Affair-TV Series
For those late night feeds and generally to keep myself entertained when Leo is far from going to sleep (which *touchwood*) is improving I am always rooting through NOW TV to find a new series that I can sink my teeth into. This month I have been obsessed with 'The Affair' which is a SKY original and it is a 3 season psychological thriller about a crazed love affair. Now this isn't the kind of thing that I'm really into, I'd much rather watch a drama or rom-com (which this is NOT) but there is something so gripping to this and I would recommend it to anyone looking to pass a couple of hours!

2. Fabric Relay Runner trainers
When you are out and about as a new mum running errands, dashing around ASDA with your pram or just generally enjoying family days out with your new little member, comfy shoes will become your best friend. I have never been a big heel wearer-I wear them for weddings and that's about it! I bought my new Fabric Relay trainers from Sports Direct for £11.99 (down from £39.99) and they are honestly the comfiest, nicest trainers I have ever owned.
3. Solait baby sun cream
Ok, so you might think that this sun cream should be going into Leo's August Favourites post but to be honest I've been using it more than he has. Baby sun cream has a much higher SPF than many other adult types and because I have sensitive skin, the kindest creams to use are often the ones tailor-made for babies. August in the UK has been unusually nice so I have been reaching for this most days and love the Solait (Superdrug) brand because it actually smells nice. In general (but especially when I was pregnant) I absolutely hate the smell of sun cream but this is light, unoffensive and the formula is very moisturizing for the skin.

4. Kirkton House Wooden Heart-ALDI
A few weeks ago I was in ALDI to take advantage of their mother&baby event (I bought a playstation for Leo that I've done a review of) and came across this absolute bargain in their home section. This wooden heart ornament, which now sits pride of place on my fireplace was just £2.99 and fits in with our shabby-chic living room perfectly.
5. Rose gold Iphone SE
This is definitely my favourite to end all favourites! So despite my birthday being in November, my very generous hubby couldn't help but find a great deal on a new phone for me so I got my prezzie a few months early! My old phone (5c) had a mind of it's own and would generally turn itself on/off, dial random numbers and delete photos that I once loved so it was definitely time to show it the door. My new rose gold Iphone SE is as practical as it is dreamy to look at. I love the compact size, the new factory settings and the memory size as of course my photo album is brimming full of Leo spam!

6.B&M Bargains Cooler Bag
I picked up this absolute bargain a couple days ago so technically I haven't really had it long enough to call it a true favourite but it already is! I picked up this picnic cooler bag for £3.99 in the garden sale section of B&M bargains and have already started using it as a changing bag. It is absolutely fabulous! I love the grey chevron design, the straps and the cooler compartments are perfect for bottles, sterilized dummies and the bag is big enough for everything!

7. Jubbly ice lollies
Last month was the epic throwback to prawn cocktail SKIPS and this month I seem to be resorting back to my childhood once again with Jubbly ice lollies (cola flavored none-the-less). I saw these in my local supermarket and just couldn't help myself and I cannot tell you how many I must have eaten in the month of August. In my defense it is very important to stay cool on those hot summer days and to stay well hydrated when breast feeding, so in conclusion Jubbly's are actually good for my health...I wish!

8. Maybelline colour show nail varnish
It's the little things that keep you human when you are up to your elbows in nappies and needing to feel just a tiny bit glam still. Life with a newborn can be so busy and for the first two months I didn't paint my finger nails at all because I just didn't see the point. They would only get chipped, get smudged before they had a chance to dry, get snapped off mid-nappy change...I could go on! But then I found Maybelline's colour show nail varnish and it's a real game changer. It's fast drying, non-clip, no mess formula and I love the colour! In August I've been wearing a gorgeous burnt orange called 'Sunset Aloha'...epic name if nothing else!

Stay tuned for Leo's August favourites coming very soon....and please remember to go across to my MumHack page on facebook and hit that 'Like' button!
