What Leo actually wears!

I am currently sitting on a see-saw.
This is a metaphorical see-saw (unfortunately Leo isn't old enough to justify me playing in the park) and it is a see-saw between 'want' and 'need'. In 2018 I vowed to live simpler.
Not simple, not scrimping and living on £10 a week but just being more sensible with what we buy and how we spend our money. This relates to baby buys too, I am currently working on a long post about my most recommended baby products and my least so stay tuned for that coming soon.

Our baby bear is growing more and more each day (his feet are particularly large but then again daddy rocks a size 12 trainer so anythings possible). It is inevitable that he needs new grows and socks and outfits but I wanted to make a quick list of his clothing necessities. Just as much as an aid for myself as well as hopefully giving you all some inspiration, so that when I see that baby velour tracksuit on Instagram I can go 'Kat! Leo would be just as happy in a £4 baby grow'

Now this is not to say that I won't be spoiling this boy. Trust me the lengths that it took to get him here means that he will be treated like a king for the rest of his life and not just from me and his dadda. I have already started a fictional list of what I want to get him for his 1st birthday which seemed so far away and now is four months over the horizon. I am well aware he won't remember this day but just like I know he won't remember tomorrow, I will always endeavor to fill his days with love and happiness, whether forgotten or not. Safe to say we are kind of smitten with him!

So here is my go-to list of 5 essential clothing items for baby bear this season.

1. A good, waterproof coat
Leo was lucky enough to get this gorgeous baby parka coat from tesco for christmas and it is just perfect. I am such a fan of this rust colour on him and really like that it's not the typical blue or black jacket, especially for this season when it's nice to have a pop of colour. It has a faux fur lined hood and does up with a simple zip which I find loads easier now that baby bear has learnt how to undo poppers!! This was £16 but is currently on sale on F&F's website for £10.50
2. A fluffy, warm all in one
Not a baby grow but an 'all in one' that can be used as another layer has been my best friend dressing Leo this winter! There are lots of super cute designs around but I found some personalized ones on 'My 1st years' that I absolutely love. They are so warm and cuddly and Leo absolutely loves them. They range between £10 and £30 but when you can just throw them on over any kind of outfit you find yourself going to chose it almost everyday.

3. Babygrows! Babygrows! and more Babygrows!
Right from when you find out that you're pregnant you begin looking at every baby shop for cute outfits. Hell, I was looking years before Leo came along. One thing that I have learnt is that Leo is comfiest in a simple, plain baby grow that he can kick around in and lounge in. They are super soft and easy for nappy changes and really there is no need for shirts and jeans on a 7 month old baby!

4. Sleeping Bag
Not an item for the day but one that I have used every single night since Leo was born is his sleeping bag. We have bought so many and are now onto the 6-12m size but honestly I just love them. There is so much research around about having blankets in your baby's cot and genuinely every mum knows what is and isn't safe for their own baby but I love this as an alternative. Leo even knows to put his little arms up so that I can zip him in tightly at bedtime. There are loads of 'own brand' options and we also have the more expensive 'Gro-Bags' that retail between £20-£35 but when you use them every night you soon get your moneys-worth.
5. Vests
I use vests so much with Leo that the 'Yungen-Bestie' song commonly gets sang in my house with the lyrics replaced with 'he needs a vesty, vesty needs a vesty, alrighhhhht!' sang by me of course...badly...poor Leo. But anyway, I love short sleeve vests. They go under grows for an extra layer, paired with little joggers or leggings, under cardigans and jumpers and pretty much anything else. The second best things about vests is that they are just about the cheapest baby item you can get. I usually buy Leo's from either tesco or asda as a 5 pack for £5!

So there it is, a little go to list of what Leo actually wears that I hope you've enjoyed reading and I will certainly look back on as he continues to grow...heaven help me when those big feet need shoes!
